  1. I thought this was very well told story I’ve been waiting for Cable to show up in the Ultimate universe, but…(spoilers ahead)…

Ultimate Cable is a future version of friggin’ Wolverine. What a cop-out. Nnonono…not the future son of Cyclops and Jean Grey, but an older Wolverine. This goes to re-enforce my theory that Marvel whores out Wolverine. It just gets on my nerves so much. There are other, cooler characters out in the Marvel Universe other than Wolverine. He’s just not that great of a character. Ooooooooh, look at me. I have claws, a healing factor and go bezerk when I get really angry. You know who else does that? Sabretooth, X-23, the Native, and his son. It’s just not cool anymore to whore Wolverine out in the entire Marvel Universe (Hell, I’m surprised he hasn’t been given the role of leader in the Justice League of America)and make carbon-copy clones of him!

If Ultimate Cable turned out not to be a future Wolverine I would have given this story arc a 5 out of 5! Rating: 3 / 5

  2. I hate Cable

    I hate Bishop

    and timetraveling.

I still think it’s soon for Cable.

But it was cool, nicely done. Some right choices Rating: 4 / 5

  3. Loved most of the novel and the twist on cable. But man did one twist really make me go “What the ****” But still an enjoyable volume, good art, ok dialog, could be better but it had a good story so it’s forgiven. Rating: 4 / 5

  4. This volume is packed with action from the start to the finish. It starts off with the introduction of Cable to the Ultimate Universe, as he busts into Xavier’s looking to kidnap someone. In the course of the battle, a big surprise is revealed that will change the course of the X-men. While Cable is not successful in his first attempt, it sets up a second attempt that climaxes at the end of the book. Overall, I felt that the story was exciting, and the pace of the action kept the book lively. I’d like to read more action oriented stories in comics, and if you’re looking for action, this volume will satisfy. Rating: 4 / 5

  5. Spoilers! The people who complain that Cable is supposed to be the future cyborg son of Cylops and Jean don’t get the point here. Cable started out without an origin. Marvel needed a new leader for the New Mutants and decided they wanted a strict military type character to contrast with Xavier. The writers immediately made Cable’s personality a generic Wolverine clone along with a million other comic characters created in the 90’s. The Scott and Jean conection was only shoe-horned in several years later.

So now Kirkman’s making him what he should have been all along: Wolverine. Of course he could be lying… wait and see. But this book has great action, twists and turns, intelligent use of characters. And as always Robert Kirkman’s dialog makes every book he writes more believable and humorous. Rating: 5 / 5
