PREVIEW: MOON KNIGHT #17

“GOD AND COUNTRY,” PART 4
In the age of the Superhuman Registration Act, the only good hero is one that plays by the book -- which the card-carrying Moon Knight most assuredly does not. Indeed, with Moon Knight fast becoming the poster child for recklessness and brutality, the question of the day is just how he got a Registration Card in the first place! As Tony Stark's investigation unearths the ugly truth, Marc Spector braces himself for the consequences, unaware that an equally grave threat is preparing to strike. Carson Knowles -- a.k.a. the Black Spectre -- is back and he wants payback.

WIZARD: How did this deal come about?
MIKE BENSON: I’m friendly with Reggie Hudlin. Reggie had just started writing Black Panther and was directing a few episodes of “The Bernie Mac Show,” and I was one of the showrunners there toward the end. I’ve always been a big comic guy; actually, I had a few Bowen busts in my office, so he knew there was a fellow comic geek on the show.
Well, that answers the “are you a comics fan” question…
BENSON: Oh yeah. I read comics up until I was 14. Then I started playing sports and going out with girls, so I sort of put it away up—until a couple of years ago, when I picked up Sin City. My love for it just sort of came back. I also have twin boys who are now 3, and my wife was talking about decorating their rooms, which gave me an excuse to go back and buy old issues I’ve always wanted like Avengers #1. What I did was have them mounted and put on their wall, and it just brought back all the feelings I used to have. Anyway, Reggie knows my writing and we would banter back and forth, and he thought I should meet Axel [Alonso, Moon Knight editor].
