ROBERT DOWNEY JR. CAST AS TONY STARK

According to the Hollywod reporter Robert Downey JR. will be playing Tony Stark
Robert Downey Jr. is suiting up to star in "Iron Man," the first feature film to be produced independently by Marvel Entertainment. Jon Favreau is directing the movie, which will be distributed by Paramount Pictures. Downey will portray Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Using his intelligence and ingenuity, Stark instead builds a high-tech suit of armor and escapes captivity. Upon his return to the U.S., he uncovers a plot with global implications and must don his armor and protect the world. The comic debuted in the 1960s, and Iron Man's origin involved Stark being a prisoner of the Viet Cong. The movie version, written by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Mark Fergus & Hawk Ostby, will be set in today's geopolitical climate. Hollywood Reporter

“It is true. Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark. I am about as excited as I can be. I saw what he can do and he is extremely enthusiastic about playing Stark. I can say with absolute certainty that there is no better choice. The humor and emotional dimension he brings truly raises the bar on this project. Get ready.” Jon Favreau Iron Man Page

Marvel® Super Heroes™ Science Exhibition

Ontario Science Center: October 18, 2006 - March 25, 2007
Step into the incredible Marvel Universe and experience all of your favourite Super Heroes and Villains! Over 30 amazing action stations reveal the powerful real-life science within Marvel’s legends.
See how your favourite action heroes perform their amazing feats of strength and speed. Discover how the laws of motion help them move. Encounter superstrong materials and learn how to generate lightning.
Think you could never be as strong as Iron Man? Guess again! Today, engineers can create powered suits, called exo-suits, that give humans extra strength, bringing Iron Man's fictional superhuman armour closer to reality. Step into an exo-suit and lift a car, all by yourself!
Test the strength of a synthetic spider's web - it's almost as strong as Spider-Man's. No artificial matter can match the tensile strength of spider's silk, but there are fibres that come close. One of them is Technora®, a synthetic material eight times stronger than steel. Hang from a harness and dangle from a giant web made from thin threads of Technora, each measuring just 3 mm in diameter. Pow! What a combo!
